the strategic plan

Dear Step One Community,

During the 2021-2022 school year, the Step One Board invited our community of families, alumni, faculty, and staff to help us envision the next set of strategic goals for the school. The resulting 2022 - 2025 Strategic Plan is grounded in our school’s mission to “nurture children’s love of life and learning in a community rooted in respect for self and humanity.” We are excited to share the pillars of the new plan with you.

As we thought deeply about our mission, values, and goals for Step One, we developed several key priorities that informed our work. These priorities are: Connecting the Community and Supporting Professional Development, Sharing and Strengthening Step One’s Commitment to Inclusion, Ensuring the Future of Step One, and Adapting to our Changing Environments. Each of these priorities contains several key focus areas, some of which are summarized in this overview. 

Our overarching goal was to amplify and deepen aspects of our program that are core to who we are as a school, and to strengthen connections at school every day and with our larger Step One community and alumni. We are deeply grateful for all of the input, time, and resources that went into this plan, especially to our Strategic Planning Committee.
